After a bit of a lame travel joke, the national day will have you crying fowl. The husband and I get along swimmingly during the Travel Quiz, whose answers were practically impossible to get right but which got me seriously longing for travel all over the world.  We rate states’ bucket list activities starting with Hawaii and ending with Iowa (or, put another way, starting with YESSSSS! and ending with NOOOOO!)  Travel updates this week come in two flavors: good news and bad news.  Then we finally get around to reflecting on the husband’s portion of our southern California spring break trip (the gritty but pretty non-city portion), which included the Harmony Motel of U2 fame and Joshua Tree National Park.  Happy Mother’s Day to all you moms, including all you pet moms out there!

    1. Oh my gosh! I’ve been waiting for you to comment so I could reply back and let you know that I commented on all your road trip blogs but WP wouldn’t “let them in” so to speak. I even tried unfollowing you and refollowing you to see if that would shake the clog loose, but no. Interestingly, an Australian blog buddy of mine hasn’t been able to comment on my posts either. She had to reply to a comment I made on her blog to let me know. Stupid WordPress! Anyway, really enjoyed reading about your trip, especially the Spam Museum that thwarted us last summer!

      1. Last week I had your problem of my comments not showing up on WP blogs. I got fed up with it and contacted Akismet. There is a form you can fill out telling them your problem and within hours [!] I was back to being able to comment. Don’t know if this will work for you, but I’m passing the info on. Another blogger told me about doing this, btw.

      2. I found out that my comments were ending up in Swinged Cat’s spam folder. I decided to check my spam folder, which I never do, and lo and behold, there was a recent (and perfectly innocent, unspammy) comment from you. I sprang it from its holding cell but for some reason it won’t let me comment on it (perhaps due to its status as “ex con” – they have fewer civil rights than the rest of the comments) so I’m telling you about it here instead!

      3. Thanks for springing me from spam jail. Last week I had a difficult time everywhere I tried to comment, so I’m not surprised what happened. Not pleased mind you, but…

      4. Oh, really? WP has been doing weird things lately. It has twice randomly unsubscribed me from a few followers…I only noticed after I hadn’t seen new posts in a long time and went directly to their blogs. I’ll check my spam folder to see if your comments are in there. Thanks for letting me know. I just assumed it was something I said and you had disowned me. 😉

      5. Wow, sure enough…they were ALL in my spam folder! I just released them and will go back and reply. Thanks for the head’s up! I rarely check the folder because WP does a really good job of filtering out junk. MOST of the time!

  1. The pool quiz was an interesting one but not an easy one to score on, I managed a pitiful 4/10 haha. Some of the pools such as Bondi and Marina Bay Sands are pretty famous though so those were easier to guess.
I’m not sure about Niagara of Idaho but Shoshone Falls looks gorgeous. We missed out on visiting Idaho last April so I’ll have to make sure I add the falls to my list when we get around to visiting 🙂

      1. Yeah, the Craters of the Moon place looks interesting. We’d planned to go down to SLC whilst in Washington last year and stopping off in Idaho along the way but obviously it didn’t work out.
        Maybe next year!
