Podcast episode 100 is available by clicking below. It is also available on iTunes, Pocket Cast, and Spotify under the travel architect.
After nearly three and a half years of podcasting, we’ve hit our 100th episode. We’re celebrating by doing absolutely nothing different. Both the joke and the national day are harbingers of our looming return to the classroom. The husband attempts to smooth things over with a silky Travel Quiz. We learn what Trip Advisor devotees rank as the best sights to see in the world, then discuss our recent visits to Scotts Bluff National Monument and Carhenge, neither of which make the Trip Advisor list. We finish with news of our most recent local “travel,” undertaken only yesterday. Let’s just say it was a ball. A twine ball (wink, wink).
Previous blog posts referenced or hinted at in this episode:
- Colorado Hot Springs Loop, Part 1: Glenwood Springs
- Clearly I’ll Do Anything for a Post: Visiting the Spam® Museum
As promised, pictures of the Carhenge shirt:
First he did this ridiculous “come hither” pose.

Then I said, “Do it holding one of the cats.” The cat did not want to be held. Hilarity ensued.

I enjoyed the quiz section of the podcast. I learned a lot about the
Silk Road, er Route. I agree that anybody that takes 17 years to go from India to China isn’t trying hard enough.
Congratulations on the 100th episode! That takes a lot of effort and commitment to do that. And happy back to school. We went back on August 3rd but we have off 6 weeks for Christmas/Chinese New Year so we get like double big breaks this year.

Thanks, Jeff! Oh wow. I’d go back on August 3 for a winter break like that. Score! Thanks for listening.

Today was my first day back to work so I share your disapproval of national relaxation day.
Also, that TripAdvisor list is strange. I mean… Garden of the Gods is neat. But #9 in the world? Nope. Definitely not.
Congrats on 100 episodes!

Boo! Why don’t schools work around these important national days? Well, I hope it was a good first day back.
Good to know about Garden of the Gods: good, but not ga ga good. Got it. 🙂

I loved Carhenge…but I love the shirt even more! Now I’m bummed that I somehow missed out on the gift shop. I auto go back, but we’re about to hit the road, so…

A missed opportunity, to be sure, but I agree… you have much bigger fish to fry right now.

Congrats on your 100th! A hundred of anything is always awesome, and something like a podcast requires quite a lot of dedication, not just for the actual recording, but everything else that goes in before that. Here’s to many hundreds more to come (though I’m sure you’ve heard this encouragement ample times already).

Congratulations on 100 posts!! Very educational quiz on the Silk Route. Of all the beautiful and interesting places in the U.S., Garden of the Gods doesn’t belong on that list. I’ve always thought it would be cool to see Carhenge, but never wanted to make that boring drive – thanks for confirming that!

You’re not the first person to say Garden of the Gods is good, but not THAT good. Thanks for confirming THAT! 🙂
