A few days ago I was partying like it was 1999 . . .

. . . but then I got another follower and it hit me like a TON of bricks.

Two thousand pounds is a TON.*

Two thousand followers is a TON OF FOLLOWERS!

Let’s face it—times are tough for travel bloggers right now. By thwarting travel, the pandemic has thwarted blog fodder as well.  I’ve been luckier than many, having traveled domestically several times since this biohazard mess began, but even I’m finding it difficult.

And yet, many of us have stuck with it, finding new and inventive ways to scratch the writing itch and engage with our online pen pals.  Still others are giving a giant middle finger to the virus by starting up travel blogs mid-plague.

Someday we’ll all elicit eyerolls and yawns from our grandchildren as we recount the Great Pestilence of the 2020s.  Until then, you have my sincere gratitude for traveling on this journey with me, and especially during COVID.  In Italy they say, “mille grazie,” which means “a thousand thank yous.”  Here at The Travel Architect Studios I say to you, “duemile grazie.”

Two thousand thank yous.

* From the scientist husband: Two thousand pounds is only a ton in the United States.  Elsewhere it’s known as a short ton.  An actual ton (aka long ton or Imperial ton) is 2240 pounds, which is slightly larger than the 2204.62 pounds (equivalent to 1000 kg) of a metric tonne.**

**Ahhhh!  Is it any wonder I favored languages and the social sciences?

  1. Seems like you were just at 666!

I think you’re doing a great job mixing up topics. You should solicit suggestions from your readers if you’re interested in branching out. If you do go this route, I’d love to hear about any paranormal experiences you might have had. If not, make something up! (Kidding. But maybe you know of somebody else who has had experiences.)

    1. I know! (I always think of you when I see 666, by the way.)

Thank you. Alas, I have no paranormal experiences to share. The spirits and aliens have decided I’m not worth haunting/abducting. I’ll have to come up with other things to write about.
