A year or so ago, two of my blog buddies — I’ve Bean Travelling and An Orcadian Abroad — took part in a blog challenge that had them come up with 26 prior travel destinations, one for each letter of the alphabet. I liked the concept, but figured it would take a lot of time to assemble. Correct! This was a time-consuming project—several letters generated a long list of destinations while others (think J, Q, U, V, Y, Z) were lucky to have one or two, and letter X forced me to cheat a little bit get creative—but it was also a trip down memory lane, so fun as well. Instead of writing about each destination, I decided to do “stream of consciousness” captions, listing words or phrases that capture the sights/sites, sounds, and sensations I experienced along the way.

Have you been to any of these places? Would they make your A-Z list?
I love this and may have to do one of my own!

You should. It’s a fun way to remember and showcase travels that are far enough in the past so as to be unbloggable.

Nice picks. I especially like your photo of the Oregon Coast and the Dolomites. Thanks for the link back!

Would your New Mexico photo happen to be in Truth or Consequences?

Cool project. I’m amazed by how many places you’ve visited and that you have photos to share. What was your favorite destination?

Thank you! My favorite state is Colorado, but southern Utah is a close second. As for international destinations, that’s just too hard, though if pressed, I might say France 🇫🇷.

I really need to get to Colorado. 🤔

Great challenge response! I can see how that would have taken you a long time but it was well worth it.

What a great list and a great collection of pictures. I love the one from Cinque Terre. I’ve seen a lot of pictures from the area but none from the water. Maggie

Thank you! We took a boat ride from the northernmost town where we were staying (Monterosso) past the four other Cinque Terre towns and down to Porto Venere where we spent the day. It was great!

I’ll have to remember that if and when we go there.

I did this post last year, and it was a lot of fun! Really makes you retrieve all of your travel memories to compile them into one post…I especially like yours from Germany and Washington State, both which have lovely things to do and see. I feel you on the letter “X:” luckily, I had one (Xi’an, China) that worked for me! Thanks for sharing your travels; it must’ve taken you a long time to make this post!

I briefly (like for half a second) considered going to Xenia, Ohio, for the sake of the post, but decided to “get creative” instead. 🙂

I think New MeXico goes way beyond “getting creative,” but I won’t quibble! This is a great list and a fun post. I am obsessed with the Dancing House in Prague and would love to visit my motherland someday. Budapest, too!

Thank you! Prague is great, but if you love pools and hot tubs, Budapest is the place to be. I’ve always wanted to go back.

What a fun way to remember where you’ve been. I was struggling with X, but then remembered X’ian in China. Still not sure about Z though!

I’ve long wanted to go to China. Is X’ian where the terra cotta army is? That’s something I’d love to see.
