Huzzah!  Between WordPress® and email subscribers, I’ve reached 100 followers!  I’m so grateful to all of you for reading, following, liking, and commenting on my posts.

I’d like to give special mention to Lisa, my dear friend, enthusiastic supporter, fellow travel lover, and very first follower, and to StoriLines, fellow blogger and my first WordPress® follower.  Thanks for getting the ball rolling, ladies.

To those of you with whom I correspond regularly in the comments sections of our posts, it feels like we’ve become pen pals, which is great fun for me.  Fun fact: as a young kid I attempted to do the pen pal thing, but I got confused between Wales and New South Wales and ended up sending my introductory letter to the wrong continent, so the promising intercontinental friendship I had so been looking forward to never really materialized.

To mark this 100 follower milestone, the husband and I returned to the very same restaurant where, last fall, the idea of this blog was born.  In celebration, I even had the same Blue Bomber martini.

We’re toasting you!

In truth, the idea of the blog wasn’t technically born at that restaurant.  The egg had actually been fertilized around 15 years ago, after which it endured a decade and a half gestation period.  Labor pains began during the day on October 14, 2018.  It was during the aforementioned dinner that my water broke.  We rushed back to our house, and the blog was born at 6:33 pm.  (A home delivery of a healthy baby blog!)

This blog is not like a human baby because it doesn’t keep me up at night.  Wait.  That’s actually not true.  (Related post: How Blogging Has Hijacked My (Formerly Balanced) Life)

What is true is that, unlike a real baby, this blog doesn’t require diaper changes or a hefty college fund, and for that I’m grateful.  OK, I’ve probably gone on long enough with this birth metaphor, but before I give it up entirely, just know that you were there from the very beginning, when my blog baby took its first breaths.  I hope you’ll stay with me through the teething, terrible twos, and beyond.  Thanks once again for your readership.

I appreciate you!

  1. Upon examination, I have determined that you have at least four followers with split personalities so you are actually at 104. Congratulations on a very enjoyable blog.

  2. Congratulations!!! I might not be very active in the blogspehere lately but I promise I’ll be here through the terrible two’s and beyond. However, here’s to hoping the baby never grows up enough you start thinking its time it moved out and found its own place of residence.

    1. Thanks! I hope you recognized yourself as one of my “pen pals.” I’m not sure if you’ve ever lived in the US, but these days American kids live with their parents until they’re 30 (the kids, not the parents), whether the mom and dad like it or not, so it’ll probably be a good many years before my baby moves out. 😉

    1. Not only did you just make my day, you really impressed me with the fact that you are still reading blogs and spreading kindness when you have every right to be holed up thinking only about yourself and your family. I’m guessing that continuing to be your positive self is helping you through your journey. At least I hope so. Thanks again, and I like the new blog name. I can tell you’re keeping a sense of humor, which is just great. 🙂
